Wedding Fee Information Most wedding officiants are either retired ministers or are not salaried. Therefore, they have a small business practice. Their fees are determined by actual small business expenses. Regular ministers of congregations are salaried by their congregations and their duties usually include performing weddings for their members. Therefore, there is a difference between costs for having a minister of your congregation perform a wedding and a wedding officiant. If you do not belong to a church, you are paying for the small business fees of a wedding officiant. Since weddings are performed in Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania and West Virginia, travel time and expenses impact the wedding officiation fees.
